Over 7 days, your group will visit ancestral villages, drum together in a traditional percussion workshop, share meals with Beninese families, sail across Lake Nokoué, and trace the historical footprints of Vodun’s global spread. Airport meet & greet for all group members (staggered arrivals managed by our team). Hotel check-in. Evening welcome banquet with palm wine, kola nut ceremony, and traditional Fon welcome performance.
Group tour of Dantokpa Market. Afternoon at the Musée da Silva exploring the Brazil-Benin connection. Evening: group cooking session, preparing traditional Beninese dishes together — then eating together.
Travel to a traditional Fon village outside Cotonou. Meet with village elders who lead a storytelling circle about the village’s history and traditions. Children of the village perform traditional dances. Afternoon drumming workshop — everyone joins in.
Porto-Novo Royal Palace tour and heritage walk. Drive to Adjarra — Benin’s ceramics capital where women have been shaping clay for generations. Each group member takes home a hand-painted ceramic piece they help create.
The most important day. Walk the Route des Esclaves as a group — your guide shares the historical narrative of this path. Group reflection at the Door of No Return. Optional: individual moments of private prayer or remembrance. The Python Temple and Sacred Forest follow.
Group boat convoy through Ganvié — a fleet of pirogues carrying your entire group into the lake village. Floating market visit. Children’s school visit. Optional: spend the night in Ganvié’s guest lodge (supplement applies).
Morning free for personal shopping at the artisan market. Afternoon farewell gala dinner at a private event space in Cotonou, with live Beninese music, dance performance, and a slide show of the week’s memories. Group departures throughout the evening.
