Our Values & Working Culture
Eight principles that govern every decision we make — from how we design a tour package to how we pay a community guide.
Community First
Every decision passes one test: does this benefit the communities we work with? If not, we do not do it. Tourism that bypasses communities is extraction, not travel.
Radical Honesty
We tell visitors the truth about what they will experience — the heat, the complexity, the bureaucracy, and the extraordinary richness. No manufactured certainty.
Lean & Purposeful
We are a small team doing extraordinary work. Every role has clear purpose. We do not hire for headcount. We hire for impact.
Long-Term Thinking
We are building a platform designed to still be running in 20 years. Decisions that sacrifice long-term ecosystem health for short-term revenue are not acceptable.
Evidence-Based
We measure everything. Revenue by stream, carbon by tour-day, local economic retention by quarter. What gets measured gets improved.
Cultural Respect
We are guests in the cultures we work with. Our team members are not interpreters of Beninese culture for outside consumption — they are custodians of it.
Technology as Tool
AI and automation serve our human mission — they do not replace the guide who knows every name at the market, or the community coordinator who has 400 diaspora visits behind her.
Continuous Improvement
Every season we publish an internal impact report. Every year we raise our own bar. Excellence is not a destination — it is a daily practice that compounds.
