Meet the Guides

The people who know this country from the inside out

Our Lead Guides

Benin Republic does not reveal itself to the unprepared. Our guides are historians, storytellers, naturalists, and cultural bridges — people who grew up here and chose to share it. Every great journey begins with the right person beside you.

Professional Tourism guide throughout Benin and head of Africa Tourism Agency (benin Tourism 229). He has guided at the Route des Esclaves and Ouidah’s sacred sites for years. A trained historian, he is the most sought-after guide for diaspora homecoming journeys, academic delegations, and anyone who wants to understand what Vodoun actually is — from the inside. Author of the forthcoming Ouidah: Vivre avec les Esprits.

BUILD WITH US

We Are Building Something Worth Joining.

Visit Benin Republic is not a booking platform that takes a commission and disappears. We are building the infrastructure that makes this country accessible to the world — and we are looking for the people, businesses, and organisations that care about doing it well.

We are the fastest-growing Benin tourism platform — with reach into Europe, the Finnish market, the African diaspora in the US, UK, and Brazil, and investment communities globally.
Our partners are not listed and forgotten. They are featured in editorial content, included in tour packages, recommended to our growing traveller community, and supported with our marketing resources.
We believe in fair terms. Guides keep 85% of their fee. Hotels and properties set their own rates. We take a transparent coordination commission — never obscured, never excessive.
We are selective. Every partner listed on Visit Benin Republic has been personally vetted, reflects our standards, and genuinely serves our travellers well. That selectivity is what makes a listing here valuable.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Partner & Guide FAQ

Do I need to be a certified guide to apply?

Formal certification is not required, but demonstrated expertise is. We assess applicants on their depth of knowledge, communication skills, language ability, and prior experience. We offer VBR-specific training for accepted guides who want to strengthen their profile.

How long does the application process take?

We review all applications within 5 business days. If we think you’re a good fit, we’ll schedule a call or in-person meeting. Full onboarding profile creation, training, and platform listing — typically takes 2–3 weeks from acceptance.

I'm a travel writer. How do press trips work?

We facilitate press trips for journalists, bloggers, and documentary makers covering Benin Republic. Contact [email protected] with your credentials and editorial brief. We coordinate accommodation, guides, access, and logistics. We do not require editorial approval of your content.

I live outside Benin. Can I still collaborate?

Absolutely. Some of our most valuable collaborators are diaspora members in Europe, the Americas, and beyond who help connect communities with their heritage. If you run a diaspora community, cultural organisation, or business and want to work together on homecoming travel, we want to hear from you.

Can I list my accommodation for free?

Yes. Listing in our Accommodation Directory is free. We charge a flat 8% commission on confirmed bookings that originate from VBR — only when a booking happens. No listing fees, no monthly subscriptions, no upfront costs.

How does payment work for guides?

Travellers pay a 30% deposit to VBR at booking. Guides keep 85% of their daily rate — paid directly by the traveller on the day. VBR’s 15% coordination commission is taken only from the deposit, never from the guide’s daily earnings. This is always transparent.
